Brief Details:
This course focuses on the theory and principles of ultrasonic and advanced phased array ultrasonic inspection; phased array equipment and probes; familiarization of PAUT equipment – preparation of scan plans – phased array inspection calibrations – velocity, Wedge delay, sensitivity, TCG, and encoder – data scanning with phased array probes; data collection and data analysis; data integrity – scan Representations – software familiarity; use of software tools for defect detection and sizing; data analysis; Interpretation & Evaluation – Acceptance Criteria procedures for verification of flaw existence and position; reporting; welding Processes and weld defects – number of practical exercises on test specimens containing simulated flaws.
Course Objectives:
- To explain the theoretical background of phased array applications.
- To develop and validate the scan plan for a particular weld configuration.
- To correctly select the probe and wedge to examine welded butt joints.
- To calibrate and set up the phased array ultrasonic equipment.
- To locate and evaluate laminations.
- To locate and evaluate flaws in the weld body, HAZ, and parent metal lamination.
- To analyse scan data for defects’ location and size in typically welded butt joints.
- To characterization and sizing of the defect and accurately report weld condition.
- To interpret and evaluate the test result as per international applicable codes & standards
ATC take a mission to give the candidate training in NDT Level II PAUT method, especially in the oil and gas and Manufacturing Sectors, as per SNT-TC1A and ATC written practice, to give the candidate a clear vision and basics about the theory of method and practical experience to be able to be proactive personnel at the site.
